INTRODUCTION
TO THE VISION GROUP.
The
two main divisions of the Vision Projects Services Group comprise
Vision Project Services (UK) Ltd., based in Dorset, UK, and Vision
Project Services Inc., based in Houston, Texas.
The remainder of the Group encompasses operational offices
based in various locations around the world.
The company has agency offices in Egypt,
India,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan
and Yemen as well as management
representatives in Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela.
Vision
Project Services (UK) Ltd., was formerly known as Seismic
Management Services (SMS).
This company was formed as an independent ‘Geophysical &
Geological Exploration’ consulting company in early 1990.
The US arm was formed nearly ten years later in 1999.
The original founder of SMS, Bob Lane, has 36 years experience
in the oil and gas exploration industry.
He has worked in various aspects of the industry from seismic,
and navigation operations with major contractors, to operations
geophysicist with a major US oil company (Unocal Corporation).
He also worked for several years as an independent seismic
acquisition, and hydrographic survey consultant.
Vision
Inc.’s President, Roger Joyce has been involved in the seismic industry for over 33 years, having
started as a field technician, and working up to party chief, before
leaving for the consulting side of the industry in the late 1970’s.
He worked for several years for ECL firstly as a field
consultant, then as an Area Manager, before serving as President of
this company’s US subsidiary from 1995 until 1999.
The
Vision Group has established a worldwide reputation for
providing high standards of Professional Supervision on a variety of
different projects. These
comprise Quality Assurance/Control of 2D/3D Land and Marine Seismic
Surveys, Navigation/Positioning Operations, Field and Post Processing
projects, Engineering Surveys, and HSE management.
The Group also supply personnel for Technical, and HSE audit
projects as well as data interpretation, and mapping.
During the first quarter of this year (2003), The
Vision Group
commenced its 300th project.
Throughout its history it has worked for most major oil
companies in a variety of countries, and over a wide range of
terrains. We
believe this illustrates the Group’s worldwide market position,
which will be further strengthened in the years ahead.
The
Primary Aim of the company remains the provision of an
‘Integrated Approach’ of overall project management for all types
of survey and exploration operations undertaken by our clients.
This includes pre-project consulting and contract appraisal,
3-D survey design, post-project processing quality control as well as
the afore-mentioned field supervision services.
We believe, and most of our clients are in agreement, that the
use of an ‘integrated’ concept results in greater efficiency and
considerable financial savings.
We have applied our ‘integrated service’ on several Land
and Marine Seismic Surveys, both 2D and 3D.
We continue to be involved in the supply of independent on-line
navigation Quality Control Systems, operated by highly trained
Navigation Specialists. Through
an associated company we hold
licences for a new, and recently proven Navigation QA/Data Processing
system called GeoMetis. We
can also supply various pre-project survey planning ‘tools’
(including those for 3D survey design), as well as comprehensive
Technical, and HSE audit facilities.
During this coming year, we will be offering a detailed course,
and workshop on Seismic Data Acquisition, and Survey Design.
This will be available at various venues in the Middle, and Far
East.
